One day we’ll all be rolling in it. I know
what I’d do with mine. PJ’s to Paris…seats next to Lorne Michael’s in the Bronx…Ferran Adrià & Alain Ducasse cooking for me while I eat/trade witticisms with Anthony Bourdain.
Until then, something’s gotta give; especially when it comes to diamonds. You definitely gotta
keep on giving ‘em but you also have to make a few compromises.
Sounds disappointing, right? NOT SO!
Buying perfect diamonds is too easy. Just pick a size and go for the gold…D
colour, Flawless clarity, triple EX cut. Wrap it up and take it home! Booooring.
Now back to reality.
Finding the right balance should be your
objective. I always tell my clients the
same thing. Picture your diamond like the equalizer on your stereo. You have to
adjust the various levels to achieve the best sound. True words for your rock
‘n roll as well as for your rock.
Take clarity for example. I could wax poetic
about the various clarity grades given out by the men and women in white coats at the GIA Laboratory. But, seriously? Unless I’m mistaken, we don’t walk
around with microscopes in our purses so if you can’t see a flaw with the naked
eye, why stress about it? Go for what looks great and works with your budget.
After all...
“Better a diamond with a
flaw than a pebble without one.”
-Chinese Proverb
